This wine was made by Matt Praetzel.
We bought this from our wine Alchemist/Potion Master in Ukiah, CA, who admittedly sources base wines from down-and-dirty mom & pop wineries and blends them to achieve more beautiful expressions of the wines.
This figure in the wine industry is called a Négociant, and its sneered at a bit by “true wine guys” because they tend to fetishize the winemakers and prefer people who do everything from planting to growing the vines to picking it, vinifying it, bottling and labeling it and leaving the “dirty” selling part to others. The reality, however, is that they are essential figures in the wine world and most of the big Champagne houses, for example, are "Négoces" who buy base wines from winemakers in Champagne and then blend them and do the secondary fermentation (i.e. carbonation) at their Châteaus.
This wine is bottled in clear conventional bottles, which you're not really supposed to do because light can ruin wine, but nobody buys white wine in dark bottles so we just store it somewhere dark.
It is a rounder style of Sauvignon Blanc, so it’s very pair-able with food - salads, fish, anything Mediterranean really. I found this wine in wine classifieds and expected it to be shit, and was very happy when I tasted it to see that it was not.
